Dr. Caperton earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Marquette University, and completed his clinical internship at the University of Iowa. He was a clinical fellow in collegiate mental health at Moorpark College, where in addition to providing individual and group therapy, he served as a liaison to the Veterans Resource Center. He has trained and worked in a variety of settings including the USC Health Sciences Campus, Marquette University’s counseling center, and both the Minneapolis and Milwaukee VA medical centers.

Clinical interests include depression, coping with trauma, men’s issues, grief and loss, relational concerns, sleep issues (including insomnia, nightmares, and dream-work), and identity/existential concerns. Prior to becoming a psychologist, he worked for several years in the music industry, and has a special interest in working with students focusing on the arts, music, theater, and film. Dr. Caperton is integrative in his practice, blending contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a mindfulness-based experiential behavioral approach. In practice, this means working collaboratively to help you develop new relationships to your emotions and internal world, in the service of moving toward what truly matters to you.
